“Recite [O Muhammad], what has been revealed to you of the book” [29:45]
It is impossible to emphasize enough the value of memorizing the holy Qur’an in a Muslim’s life. In addition to being the word of Allah Ta’ala, it contains our moral code and guidelines for salvation.
A Muslim must recite the Holy Qur’an five times a day in Salah, in the morning and again in the evening, as part of his daily routine. That sums up the Holy Qur’an’s significance in the life of a Muslim. Allah Ta’ala instructs our beloved Rasulullah (s.a.w) to recite the Holy Qur’an, which has been revealed to him, in the aforementioned verse.
Whether or whether it is done with comprehension, reciting the Holy Qur’an is a virtuous and honourable act of worship. The benefits of reciting the Holy Qur’an are immeasurable. Allah has promised those who recite the Glorious Qur’an an abundant reward. a few of these include:
In the Hadith Rasulullah (s.a.w) is reported to have said “Who so ever recites the Qur’an there are ten rewards for every letter he recites. I don’t say الم is one letter, ا is a letter ل is a letter م is a letter.” This means that the reciter will receive thirty rewards of the recitation of الم Rasulullah (s.a.w.) has emphasized the importance of the holy Qur’an in many Ahadith:
“Best among you is one who learned to read the Qur’an and taught others.” [Tirmizi-2909, Abu Dawud-1402]
“The example of a believer who recites Qur’an is like that of a fruit whose smell is good and taste delicious.” [Bukhari-4527, Muslim-797, Abu Dawud-4829, Tirmizi-2865, Nasai-5038]
“Learn Qur’an and recite it. Indeed the example of a person who learns how to read the Qur’an, recites it, and acts upon it, is like that of a bag full musk, the fragrance of which spreads in the entire house…” [Tirmizi-2876, Nasai Sunan al-Kubra-8749, Ibn Majah-217]
” Indeed, the one who does not have the Qur’an inside him (his heart), is like the ruined home.” [Tirmizi-2913]
Therefore, learning to read at least a portion of the Glorious Qur’an is essential for performing Salah is Fard, obligatory for all Muslims, both man and woman. It is clear from the description of the aforementioned traditions that there are many virtuous people who learn the Glorious Qur’an, teach it to others, and recite it on a regular basis.
